Renewing Democracy Summit

Renewing Democracy: Women Leading the Way explored the challenges facing democracy in the U.S. and abroad and highlighted the many ways leaders are working toward democratic renewal.

Speakers included Hillary Rodham Clinton ’69, former U.S. secretary of state; Leymah Gbowee, Nobel Prize laureate and Liberian peace activist; Chelsea Miller, co-founder of Freedom March NYC; Maria Ressa, Nobel Prize laureate and co-founder of Rappler; and Keren Yarhi-Milo, dean of Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, among others.

The day included a wide variety of panels covering topics such as global democracy, artificial intelligence and misinformation, young voter importance, civic leadership, and higher education and democracy.

The summit marked the launch of the Hillary Rodham Clinton Center for Citizenship, Leadership, and Democracy at Wellesley College, which is dedicated to preparing the next generation of civic leaders. Learn more about the center and watch highlights from the summit.
