DESPITE AND STILL

Dazzling soprano Heidi Stober and acclaimed pianist Tanya Blaich perform a recital exploring tenacity and resilience.

Soprano Heidi Stober, whom Opera News exclaimed as a “distinctly American lyric soprano that makes the rest of the world listen” is enjoying an international career with a crystalline voice and method-like commitment to stage acting. With acclaimed pianist Tanya Blaich, praised for her “unfailingly expressive and finely judged” playing by The Guardian, they will perform a program inspired by Samuel Barber’s song “Despite and Still,” exploring tenacity and resilience in navigating life’s challenges.

Alongside music by Barber, the artists have chosen a range of captivating songs by Elisabeth Lutyens, Maude Valérie White, Ethel Smyth, Germaine Tailleferre, Margaret Bonds, and Florence Price.
